Why Sarah formulated our new prebiotic hydrating face mist
When I'm not talking all things beauty and wellness with our wonderful customers, you're likely to find me immersed in our By Sarah London lab. I'm passionate about exploring the finest plant-based ingredients and innovative new ways to support your skin health, but Lauren and I will only ever launch products we truly believe in. Each and every blend we create is packed with so much love, thought and expertise.
Now, after a year of research and testing, I'm so thrilled to unveil our latest creation – the new By Sarah London Reviver Hydrating Face Mist.
Inspired by my conversations and consultations with our By Sarah London community, this is so much more than a mist. Prebiotic, plant-powered and with proven ingredients, the intelligent formula doesn't just hydrate skin (although it does that superbly, too). It actively works to replenish your skin’s microbiome while strengthening its barrier function.
Our hero ingredient – the Desert Rose – boosts skin on so many levels, making it well suited to all skin types and, in particular, those who have experienced sensitivity, dry skin and acne throughout the pandemic.
Bringing new innovation to botanical formulations is very much at the heart of By Sarah London. Our Hydrating Face Mist format will be a UK first for skincare and that makes me incredibly proud.
Read on to discover why I formulated the face mist and just why the blend is seriously special...
What ingredients are in By Sarah London Reviver Hydrating Mist?
Like all our products, the Reviver Hydrating Mist is free from fillers, alcohol, SLS or added water – it simply contains carefully curated ingredients, chosen for their outstanding skin-boosting benefits.
The Desert Rose, also known as the 'resurrection plant' is the star. In its native Mexico, this miraculous botanical can lie dry and dormant for several years before unfurling into a luscious green beauty within hours of re-exposure to moisture. And scientific studies have found the ingredient offers the same incredible powers for skin, too.
In tests, moisture levels in the skin increased by 71% after 24 hours. It also reduced water loss (indicating the ingredient is able to improve the skin's protective barrier function) and reduced the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. In short, our skin LOVES it.
Not content with just one power plant in the formula, I chose to combine the Desert Rose with some other wonder-working botanicals, too.
Our Hydrating Mist contains aloe vera that's bursting with amino acids, antioxidants, minerals, enzymes and vitamins; and proven to be effective at retaining skin moisture and healing wounds.
It's also loaded with Natural Kiwi Water – abundant in Vitamin C to help with firming and fine lines – and Muscat Grape Fruit Water that nourishes skin without a heavy, greasy feeling.
Individually, these are all some of nature's hardest workers, but together? They're even more powerful, working to restore, repair and hydrate for healthy, happy skin that truly glows.
Why did I choose a face mist format?
I'm forever championing a slow, simple skincare routine that doesn't just rebalance your complexion but your mind, too. Nothing helps me to unwind more effectively than an evening facial massage using our By Sarah London Hero Facial Oil. But – like many of you – I also often require a fast-action pick-me-up.
That's why I felt it was important to include a multi-tasking mist in our collection. A formula that can be used both at home or on the go, added to your bathroom cabinet, bedside drawer, glove compartment or handbag.
The lightweight spritz means our hydration mist can be used on bare skin, before applying our Hero Facial Oil or veiled on throughout the day, even over makeup. It slots seamlessly into any routine or lifestyle so you can make it work for YOU.
What are the benefits of a healthy skin microbiome?
The skin biome refers to our skin's unique 'ecosystem', made up of trillions of microorganisms (bacteria, fungi, algae, protozoa and viruses) living on and within the surface. All kinds of things can throw this special ecosystem out of sync from diet and harsh skincare products to the sun, pollution and diet. This can show up as dryness, redness, sensitivity and even acne.
Our entire By Sarah London collection is designed to support a healthy skin microbiome. The reason this is so important to me? Our brand journey began with my sister Lauren's recovery from life-threatening leukaemia. When she left hospital, Lauren's skin was repopulating with the microbiome that was previously established in infancy and early childhood.
It was delicate, fragile and reacted to many natural ranges. In a bid to help her, I created innovative plant blends that helped care for that all-important skin biome and now, led by recent scientific research, this continues to be a primary aim of our whole skincare line.
Our new By Sarah London Reviver Hydrating Mist is no exception. While just one spritz instantly soothes, cools and hydrates a tired lacklustre complexion, the high-science blend is getting to work on a much deeper level. It uses a prebiotic formulation to actively help replenish that all-important microbiome so over time, you'll experience calmer, clearer, more resilient skin.
And who wouldn't want that?
