Maintaining wellness and radiance, with Madeleine Shaw

At By Sarah, we believe in the power of looking after your wellbeing, and there’s no better embodiment of this than wellness expert Madeleine Shaw. Renowned for her dedication to healthy living, Madeleine has inspired countless individuals with her approach to food, movement, and self-care. In this interview, she shares her insights on nourishing the mind and body, making healthy choices, and maintaining a radiant glow through the changing seasons.

What fuels your passion for wellness and the power of healthy food and movement?

Feeling good is what fuels my passion for wellness. When I look after myself through what I eat and making time to move I feel like superwoman. I have more energy, I am more able to adapt to my surroundings and I don’t sweat the small stuff as much.

What's your advice for making the healthiest choices for mind and body every day?

Tune into what your body is craving, it’s probably calling out for what it needs whether that’s a meditative moment to calm and settle or getting up moving because you feel energised. Don’t force yourself to do things you don’t enjoy because you believe it’s healthy. I really believe that it’s healthy to do what you love, so find a form of movement that gets you excited, or your favourite healthy foods, to make looking after yourself something you enjoy rather than a chore.

What's your favourite autumnal go-to recipe? And the best way to reduce food waste?

The best way to reduce food waste is to use your freezer! Whether that’s freezing leftover curries, stews or sauces or freezing fruits, veggies and leftover bread it means you’ll always have food to eat and it extends the shelf life so much! My autumnal go to is a delicious soup like my squash, truffle and leek soup it’s so easy, so comforting and freezes really well.

How do you balance your busy schedule and family life with your own well-being?

I haven’t always been like this, but as I’ve become older, I’ve learned to say no and prioritise. I’m realising that it’s better to do less, but be 100% present in everything you do than trying to juggle more than you can manage.

By Sarah Hero Facial Oil

What's your favourite By Sarah skincare to enjoy at home?

I am obsessed with the Hero Facial Oil - it’s so hydrating and helps keep my skin healthy and glowing.

How do you keep your glow during the autumn months?

I use a light alarm clock so I wake up gradually to what feels like a sunrise rather than a noisy alarm which always sets me up for a good day. I make sure I keep up my movement whether it’s yoga at home or a studio class. And I nourish my body with stews and curries full of garlic and ginger to keep colds away.

About Madeleine

Madeleine has been in the wellness industry for 10 years now, starting her journey as a nutritionist and home cook. She then later trained as a yoga and meditation teacher. Her own wellness journey started when she was diagnosed with IBS in 2010; overnight she changed not only what she ate but how she moved.

Her mission is to show people how to incorporate these principles into their varied and busy lives - so she created The Glow Space; a wellness hub to help people find their flow at home, easily and cost effectively.
