The Story Behind Reviver Hydrating Mist

When Sarah first began thinking about Reviver, she wasn’t trying to create another facial mist.

She was thinking about sensitive skin.

Years earlier, watching her sister Lauren recover from life-threatening acute myeloid leukaemia had changed the way Sarah thought about skincare. Skin that had once tolerated almost anything had become delicate, reactive and easily overwhelmed. It needed care that felt reassuring rather than demanding.

That experience shaped the philosophy behind By Sarah and, years later, inspired Reviver Hydrating Mist.

Sarah wanted to create more than a mist that offered a fleeting sense of freshness. She wanted something gentle and dependable that could support the skin while fitting naturally into everyday life.

Today, Reviver is one of the products our community returns to time and again, not because it promises dramatic transformation, but because it quietly earns its place.

What makes Reviver different from an ordinary face mist?

Reviver was created to help skin feel calm, comfortable and cared for, whether used after cleansing, before facial oil or whenever a little extra hydration is needed.

That intention shaped every formulation decision.

Prebiotic inulin helps care for the skin’s natural microbiome, the community of microorganisms that works alongside the skin barrier to help keep it balanced and resilient.

L-arginine and aloe vera provide lightweight hydration and soothe skin that feels dry, warm or unsettled.

Just as important was what Sarah chose to leave out.

Reviver Hydrating Mist is fragrance free and essential oil free because neither was needed for the formula to perform. For sensitive skin, thoughtful formulation is often about restraint rather than addition.

Why does the skin’s microbiome matter?

The skin microbiome is the community of microorganisms that naturally lives on the skin’s surface. Together with the skin barrier, it forms part of the skin’s everyday defence system and contributes to how comfortable and resilient the skin feels.

This delicate environment can be influenced by many ordinary things: changes in weather, over-cleansing, strong skincare, illness, travel and long days spent in heated or air-conditioned rooms.

When skin is out of balance, it may begin to feel dry, tight, itchy or more reactive than usual.

By Sarah Reviver Hydrating Mist customer review

Reviver was formulated to offer gentle, consistent care during those everyday moments, not to overwhelm the skin, but to help it feel more settled.

This reflects a belief that has guided By Sarah from the beginning: sensitive skin rarely needs to be pushed harder. Often, it needs to be listened to.

How should you use Reviver in your skincare routine?

Reviver can be used after cleansing, before a serum or facial oil, over makeup, or whenever skin feels in need of lightweight hydration.

In the morning, mist it over freshly cleansed skin before applying the rest of your skincare.

In the evening, use it before facial oil. Applying oil while the skin is still lightly damp can help it glide more comfortably, without pulling or dragging.

Reviver can also be kept nearby during the working day or packed for travel when heated rooms, air conditioning, or dry cabin air leave skin feeling less comfortable.

There is no single correct moment to use it. The best place for Reviver is wherever it makes your routine feel more supportive.

Trusted by editors. Loved by our community.

Reviver Hydrating Mist has been recognised for the same quality our customers often mention: its ability to soothe stressed skin without complicating a routine.

Good Housekeeping described it as a mist that “sandwiches” in moisture and helps “take the heat out of flare-ups.”

That recognition means a great deal to us. Yet the messages that stay with us most often come from people who have made Reviver part of their everyday routines.

Hannah shared:

“Really impressed with the Reviver Hydrating Mist. It feels like a treatment in itself and a little goes a long way. The bottle is also generously sized. I can definitely see an improvement already because it’s helping my skin remain hydrated throughout the day.”

Liz described how naturally the mist has settled into her routine:

“This is a repeat purchase for me. I would not be without it in my morning and nightly routine. I spray this after cleansing and before applying my serums. If I’m applying oils to my face, I use this mist to dampen my face first prior to applying the oil. It’s just so soothing and comforting. My skin around my nose can become irritated quite easily, but this reviving mist completely calms any irritation. I would highly recommend.”

What stands out in Liz’s experience is not a dramatic before-and-after story. It is trust.

Reviver has become something familiar: a first step after cleansing, a companion to facial oil, a bottle kept close at home, at work or while travelling.

It began with Sarah and Lauren. Today, its story continues through the people who make it their own.

What does Reviver mean to us today?

Reviver represents the kind of skincare we want to create: gentle, thoughtful and easy to live with.

It carries Lauren’s experience, Sarah’s formulation care and the voices of customers who have welcomed it into their routines.

A facial mist cannot make an evening less busy or a journey less tiring. But it can create a small pause, a moment when warm, tight or uncomfortable skin feels cared for again.

Sometimes, that is exactly enough.

FAQs

Is Reviver Hydrating Mist suitable for sensitive skin?

Reviver was created with stressed and sensitive skin in mind. Its fragrance-free and essential oil-free formula contains prebiotic inulin, L-arginine and aloe vera to provide lightweight hydration and soothing care without adding unnecessary complexity.

As with any new skincare product, individual skin can respond differently. Patch testing first is a sensible step if your skin is particularly reactive.

Can I use Reviver before facial oil?

Yes. Mist Reviver onto cleansed skin, then gently pat and press your facial oil over the top while the skin is still lightly damp. This can help the oil glide comfortably and makes a simple, soothing evening ritual.

Can Reviver be used over makeup?

Yes. The fine mist can be lightly spritzed over makeup whenever the skin feels dry or in need of refreshment. Hold the bottle a comfortable distance from the face and allow the mist to settle naturally rather than rubbing it in.

Can a facial mist replace moisturiser?

A hydrating mist usually works best as part of a routine rather than as a replacement for moisturiser or facial oil. Reviver adds lightweight moisture, while the product applied afterwards helps reduce moisture loss and keep the skin feeling comfortable for longer.

How often can I use Reviver?

Reviver Hydrating Mist can be used in the morning, evening or during the day as needed. Let your skin guide you. Some people use it mainly after cleansing, while others keep it nearby for moments when their skin feels tight, warm or unsettled.
