5 ways to improve your sleep routine

Today is the day to begin prioritising your bedtime rituals to set you up for a good night's sleep. Good sleep is the cornerstone of a healthy, rested mind and body. And taking the time to allow yourself to unwind at the end of the day is not only likely to help you sleep better, but you can use it as an opportunity to nourish and restore your skin. Here are 5 ways you can reclaim your evening and improve your sleep routine:

Relax with an at-home facial massage

One of the best ways to unwind and rejuvenate your skin is by indulging in an at-home facial massage. This relaxing ritual not only improves circulation but also helps in lymphatic drainage, reducing puffiness and giving your skin a healthy glow.

Apply 3-5 pumps of our Hero Facial Oil to clean hands. Using your fingertips, gently massage your face in upward and outward motions. Focus on areas where you hold tension, such as your jawline, temples and forehead. For more details on at-home facial massages, visit our Instagram page for Sarah's top tips.

Enjoy a hydrating sleep mask

Overnight hydration is key to waking up with refreshed and glowing skin. We love to use our Saviour Moisture Mask as an overnight mask to lock in moisture and deliver intense hydration throughout the night. Packed with naturally derived hyaluronic acid and aloe leaf extract, this mask will soothe and calm your skin. Apply as the last step in your evening skincare routine, and let it work its magic as you sleep.

Want to give your evening skincare routine a boost? Try adding a few pumps of our Bakuchiol Booster to help promote collagen synthesis and skin plumpness without irritation or increased sensitivity.

Switch off to wind down

In our technology-driven world, it's important to create a tech-free zone before bed. The blue light emitted by screens can interfere with your body's natural sleep cycle, making it harder to fall asleep.

At least an hour before bed, switch off your electronic devises and engage in a calming activity like reading a book or practicing meditation. This will signal to your body that it's time to wind down and prepare for rest.

Creating a tranquil, screen-free environment in your bedroom can improve your sleep quality and overall well-being. Remember, quality sleep is essential for healthy, radiant skin and a rejuvenated mind.

Try a pre-sleep breathing technique

Incorporating a pre-sleep breathing technique can significantly improve the quality of your sleep. Deep breathing exercises help to relax the mind and body, reducing stress and promoting a sense of calm.

One effective technique is the 4-7-8 breathing method. To practice this, sit or lie down in a comfortable position. Close your eyes and inhale deeply through your nose for a count of four. Hold your breath for a count of seven, then exhale slowly through your mouth for a count of eight. Repeat this cycle three to four times.

This simple, yet powerful, practice can help you fall asleep faster and enjoy a deeper, more restorative sleep. For more breathing techniques, take a look at The Breath Guy's tutorials.

Express gratitude for your day

Ending your day with a moment of gratitude can have a profound impact on your mental wellbeing. Take a few minutes before bed to reflect on the positive aspects of your day. Write down three things you are grateful for in a journal.

This practice shifts your focus from any stress or negativity to the positive experiences in your life. By cultivating an attitude of gratitude, you can end your day on a positive note and wake up feeling refreshed and ready to embrace the new day.

We would love to see how you're making sleep a priority and building self-care rituals that feed your mind and body with vitality and resilience. Share with us on social media @bysarahlondon.
