These long, hot days of summer are the ones we love to enjoy. But day after day of high temperatures can trigger acne breakouts, particularly on the nose, chin and forehead. Here are 5 of the best ways to calm the skin and reduce breakouts.
1. cleanse twice daily
Cleansing your skin morning and night is a must, particularly when the temperatures are as high as they are at the moment. Use the Raspberry Seed Cleansing Oil to keep pores clear and reduce the build up of sebum that accumulates overnight and during the day. Thoroughly cleansing the skin and ridding it of sweat, daily grime, make-up and SPF will go a long way to caring for oily-prone skin.
2. double cleanse
As oilness tends to increase when the weather is hot and you'll most likely be wearing more SPF than in cold weather, double cleanse a few times a week with the Raspberry Seed Cleansing Oil and Green Clay Cleansing Balm to give your skin a deeper cleanse and experience the benefits of the plant based blends. Follow along in our how-to video.
3. leave spots alone
If spots do appear, resist the urge to pick, pop or squeeze them. Doing this only increases redness and inflammation, which means it will take longer for the skin to heal. Instead, treat your skin kindly by cleansing your skin and then following with a few drops of the Hemp-Infused Blemish Recovery Oil, winner of "Best Sustainable Beauty Product - Gold Winner" in the 2020 Global Green Beauty Awards this week!
4.feed your skin
Eating foods which have anti-inflammatory, high vitamin and omega-rich benefits is key to supporting healthy skin all year round. To help skin heal from breakouts, enjoy a handful of cashew and brazil nuts which are high in iron and zinc, or pop them in your morning smoothie for a cooling and nourishing way to start the day this summer.
5. weekly mask treatment
To draw excess oil and dirt from the pores, enjoy our Green Clay Face Mask once a week. The French Green Clay has a unique blend of minerals which detoxify the skin, whisk away impurities and help to balance the skin. Enjoy this face mask while listening to your favourite podcast and enjoy the gentle evening summer breeze.
