5 Transformative Self-Care Rituals for Spring

Spring is here! With the flowers in bloom, the birdsong filling the mornings and the lighter, brighter days, it's the perfect time to take a look at your self-care rituals with fresh eyes. To help you feel your best self this season, take a look at these self-care rituals and experience their mindful, grounding benefits this Spring.

Immerse yourself in Nature

BY SARAH LONDON Sarah in Nature

Spending time in nature helps to restore the body and mind. And in Japan they even have a special phrase for this: "shinrin-yoku” which means “forest bathing”, immersing yourself in nature for your wellbeing. If you live near a park, take a walk and feel your shoulders drop as you experience the calming effects of being in nature, noticing the wind in trees and sounds of the birds. If you're not near any green space, bring nature into your own home and workplace - try adding houseplants to brighten your windowsill or upcycle your BY SARAH glass jars with succulents.

Channel your inner energy

"You have an energy body; everyone has one but can’t see, just like the way we can’t see sound or how we feel the sun's energy. It needs looking after just as much as the physical one as it actually effects the physical one and your emotional state. Healing can clear, unblock and recharge your energy system! It’s amazing and doesn’t need to only be used when you are having a hard time."

Try this breath exercise from The Breath Guy

BY SARAH LONDON Richie Bostock The Breath Guy

It’s called box breathing. The breath is broken down into four equal parts, like the sides of a square. The length of each part should be whatever feels comfortable to you. A good place to start is five seconds but you could make the lengths even longer if you like:

  • Start with empty lungs and breathe into your belly through your nose for a count of 5 seconds
  • Hold your breathe for a count of 5
  • Exhale for a count of 5
  • Hold your breath for a count of 5
  • Repeat this pattern for at least 5 minutes or until you have felt yourself fully calm down

    KonMarie your home

Marie Kondo is the name to know if you're looking for ways to declutter your home and never lose your keys again! More than this though, she's taught us to only keep things that "spark joy". A radically simple concept - that works. I recently experienced the joy when I KonMarie'd my possessions and am now a loyal disciple of her folding technique (who knew that was even a thing!). Her ethos of reducing the burden of excess is powerful and a concept that really works.

    Simplify your skincare routine

BY SARAH LONDON Green Clay Face Mask

This Spring, experience the gently exfoliating and antioxidant-rich, skin boosting benefits of the Green Clay Face Mask. We recommend mixing with raw, organic runny honey and leaving on for 5-10 minutes before rinsing off with warm water, removing any excess with the Organic Muslin Facial Cloth. Enjoy once a week and simply follow with 2-3 drops of the Organic Facial Oil (one of Deliciously Ella's favourites).

Are there any self-care rituals you've started this Spring? We'd love to hear from you! You can email me at lauren@bysarahlondon.com.
