Yesterday was such a beautiful, crisp autumnal day that my sister (and our founder), Sarah, and I decided to drive down to the coast for a walk on the beach. Yes, there was a bracing sea breeze, but with the bright blue sky and deep blue sea, it was a nourishing treat for mind, body and soul.
While walking across the West Sussex-coast pebbles, I thought about a recent episode from the BBC’s Blue Planet II. We were shown how saturated the seas have become with plastics: small fish were swimming among shoals of micro-plastics and a baby sea turtle was trapped in a tangled web of plastic. Many mainstream skincare products contain plastics (facial scrubs that have micro-beads are a major culprit) and they are finding their way into the oceans.
