How to use a Face Oil in your Skincare Routine

If you're new to using a natural facial oil, it can be confusing: how much do you use? When do you apply it? And do you need a moisturiser too?

Our Organic Facial Oil is a light, delicate blend of 5 cold pressed certified-organic, plant based ingredients to feed your skin with the vitamins, omegas, minerals and fatty acids to keep it healthy all day long.

It's blended to be suitable for all skin types, including dry, sensitive and oily-prone skin. With no essential oil or fragrance, it's suitable for both men and women too. Use these easy-to-follow application steps and you'll be on your way to healthy, radiant skin.

If you have Oily skin, Plant-Based is Best

There’s a common misconception that using a natural facial oil will cause your skin to become too oily and lead to breakouts. But it's the synthetic, petroleum-derived ingredients found in many mainstream, conventional beauty oils that typically either:

  • strip your skin of its natural oils, causing it to produce even more oil and clog pores or
  • contain synthetic oils (like mineral oil) which have such a large molecular structure and sit on the surface of the skin as they can't be absorbed, leading again to clogged pores and breakouts.

Using organic, plant-based oils can actually prevent breakouts and acne due to the balancing effect they have on the skin. The skin-similar, small molecules resemble our own skin cell structure, allowing the oils to be very easily absorbed by the skin. These oils signal to the sebum glands to slow down sebum production and in turn leave your skin more balanced.

1. Start with Cleansed Skin

Before you apply the organic face oil, cleanse your skin by removing make-up and daily impurities with our Green Clay Cleansing Balm and Organic Muslin Facial Cloth. This creates the perfectly clean canvas for the vegan face oil to work most effectively. Read more on how to apply the Cleansing Balm here.

2. Apply a Few Drops to Slightly Damp Skin

Use the pipette to drop a few drops of the oil into the palm of your hand. If you have dry skin or are in cold, windier climates, you may like to add an extra couple of drops. A little goes a long way with the Organic Facial Oil. With no artificial or synthetic ingredients or any added water, every drop of the oil is benefiting your skin's health. And always apply the face oil to slightly damp skin - the oil will hold onto that extra moisture on the skin.

3. Massage into your Skin

Bring the palms of your hands together and then gently massage the handmade oil into your skin, from your neck right up to your forehead. Enjoy a mindful moment as you massage the nutrient-rich plant-based ingredients into your skin in upward circular motions, boosting circulation and releasing tension.

4. Do the "Pat and Press"

To aid the absorption of the cold pressed facial oil into the deeper layers of your skin (to help promote cell turnover and provide long-lasting nourishment), gently pat and press the oil into your skin with your fingertips. Taking care around the delicate eye area. This gentle massage technique stimulates the skin, promoting a radiant glow.
